Today, Tuesday, the Jordan Football Association denied the recent news that the Asian Football Confederation had confirmed the gender of Zahra Kodaei, the goalkeeper of the Iranian women’s team, so far.
The Jordanian Federation asked its Asian counterpart to verify the gender of goalkeeper Kodaei, who contributed to her team’s victory over Jordan in the qualifiers for the 2022 Asian Cup in late September, after she saved a penalty kick.
Muhammad Ayasra, media director of the Jordan Football Association, said in a statement carried by the Jordan News Agency “Petra” that his country’s federation did not receive a response from the AFC about the submitted letter, denying the news of the latter’s confirmation of the gender of goalkeeper Kodaei.
The Jordanian Federation had demanded, in a letter submitted to the AFC and published by Prince Ali bin Al-Hussein, President of the Federation on his account on “Twitter”, that the eligibility of the participation of goalkeeper Zahraa be verified by a committee of independent medical experts.
In its statement, the Jordanian Federation indicated that the Iranian women’s team has precedents in issues of sex and doping.
